Best Pick: Joey Votto, Rhode Island Quahogs -- Round 3 may be the most difficult round to decide who was best as it featured future young studs Clayton Kershaw, Carlos Gonzalez, Fernando Martinez, Votto, Adam Jones, Jacoby Ellsbury and even "Dick in your Face" Jeff Niemann. None of these guys are bona-fide gamebreakers yet, but some are getting close.

At any rate, if we're going based on what they've done instead of potential, Votto gets the nod here for putting up two complete seasons of good hitting. In 2009 he hit .322 with 25 homers, and if power is the last thing to come around then 2010 could be a huge year for the Bombers 1B. Ellsbury gets mention for posting 120 stolen bases in his first two complete seasons with the Sawx in 08-09. And Clayton Kershaw, well read below.

Worst Pick: With as many great picks as were made in the round, the usually dependable drafting Pandas dropped the ball with the 3rd pick when they infamously drafted SP Kei Igawa after getting excited about a Keith Law scouting report. The Pandas GM hoped he could become a winner with the Yankees. Instead he ended up being a mistake for not only the Pandas but the Yanks also. In fact the only person who doens't hate him is Pat, because he bought everyone steak dinners in the PawSox clubhouse. He also has gone onto become the poster boy for his own award: The Kei Igawa Award, AKA the Anti-Cy Young.

Still Could Be Best: Carlos Gonzalez/Clayton Kershaw. CarGo is oozing with talent and a 30-30 season may be in sight as soon as this season. The Rockies outfielder could make huge strides this season after showing last year he had patience, speed and some pop, just as was touted for years as a prospect. Ultimately though, Kershaw i think will be the best player drafted in this round. The lefty showed absolute dominance at times last season and he's already starting his third year at age 22. He's taking a very similar career arch to fellow Bomber Felix Hernandez, and it looks like only a matter of time until Kershaw really blows up.

% in MLB: 92% of the players made MLB rosters, Fernando Martinez is nubbin' it in the minors.

  1. Ammendment: Technically 100% of the players in this round made the MLB, Martinez is the only one still prospect eligible.

  2. Jrad's nub memory strikes again haha, I'm a huge kei fan because on average a player would give me a 5-15 dollar tip at the end of a series, generous guys would go 20 to even 30 bones. Kei came waltzing up in his toe socks (yes he had yankee blue toe socks) and tossed me a check for $300 bones and said shank you, shank you 4 times, bowed and left. Kei Igowa was the best pick in that round in my books.

  3. I know I'm not imagining things. Someone bought u dinner. Was it Gary Sheffield? My memory can barely keep up with my own brain, let alone someone else's stories.
