Best Pick- Edinson Volquez- Brad picked Volquez as the 156th overall pick in the 2007 prospect draft and a year later he was a Cy Young candidate (he’s got a horse shoe and a rabbits foot up there with that shamrock) Volquez went 17-6 with 206 K’s in 196 innings and posted a 3.21 ERA, leading the Brew Crew, oh wait Brad dropped him after he barely went over his rookie innings allotment after the 2007 season and he was scooped up in the 7th round of the MLB draft by Conor in what turned out to be his only good move in the NKFBL. Volquez later went on to a disappointing 2009 for the Quahogs which included multiple stints on the DL and a visit to Dr. Andrews. He’ll look to come back strong in 2011.

Worst Pick- Jeff Bianchi- In looking at the 13th round Bianchi was the only prospect that I’ve never heard of, after doing some more research he’s a 23 year old short stop in the Royals system, and he sucks, not that you really expect anything from the 13th round, but this turned out to be an unlucky 13 for the Rampage.

Still Could Make it- Carlos Triunfel- Drafted as a 17 year old by Uustal Triunfel was looked at as a long term project and 2 years and a broken leg into it, he still hasn’t gotten past high A. He has posted nice batting averages including a 309 clip in 43 games in 2007 but his lack of power and inability to hold down his position at short stop defensively have thrown some question marks into his long term predictability. At 20 years old he is still younger than the majority of prospects entering the 2010 NKFBL prospect draft so Carlos has plenty of time to make it in the bigs.

% in MLB- 3 out of 12, only 25%

  1. From Rotoworld...

Royals infielder Jeff Bianchi will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the season.

This is disappointing news for the 23-year-old shortstop/second baseman who has risen up the Royals' prospect lists with good play. After batting .308/.358/.405 last year across Single-A and Double-AA, he was named the Royals' seventh-best prospect by Baseball Prospectus. Shortstops generally recover faster than pitchers - see Cesar Izturis' return in less than a year - but this will delay Bianchi's arrival in the bigs for sure.
