Best Pick- Kevin Slowey, NK Red Sox/Ballers -- Slowey went 10-3 last season but his 4.86 ERA was not nearly as impressive. The season before he made 27 starts though, going 12-11 with a 3.99 ERA and impressive 1.16 WHIP. He doesn't look like much of a strikeout pitcher but he does look marginal and will definitely be drafted by someone in the upcoming MLB draft.
Worst Pick- Pandas Dan Brauer SP -- The Pandas lack of hardcore research going into the 2007 draft really showed on head scratchers like this. I don't even know who this is, and I drafted him.
Could Still Make it- Lars Anderson 1B -- The Brew Crew got a nice selection here with Anderson though he seems to have really fallen off the wagon. Once considered to be a middle-of-the-order bat, Anderson has stumbled a bit. He still has great power but is lacking in just about every other batting tool you could want.
% in MLB- 7 out of 12 for only 58%
I'm going to be picky on the Kevin Slowey doesn't look like much of a strikeout pitcher. For his career so far he's at 7.7 K/9 which is pretty solid. He's also improved that rate over the second half of 2008 and the little he pitched last season. So while I don't think he'll ever be a 9.0 K/9 guy I do think he's a solid K/9 guy that will help you in the category a lot more than he'll hurt you.
ReplyDeleteEric Campbell = DST. I think he got kicked out of the org. for Manny-like treatment of team employees. I recall reading something where he assaulted a reporter or something like that. When you can't hit it high and far, people don't tolerate those actions. So much for the replacement of Chippah!
