Best Pick- Rick Porcello- I believe that in a few years this will likely go down as Jason Heyward or Matt Weiters but since I’m going on results thus-far the search starts and ends with Porcello. Billy scooped him up with the 2nd overall pick, right behind phenom David Price. After a year of seasoning in the minors Porcello came up with a very strong rookie campaign putting up 14 wins and keeping his ERA under 4. Porcello doesn't look to be a strong strikeout pitcher as he only had 89 in 170 innings but some of that might have to do with the fact that he was being handled with kid gloves so he was trying to get out of innings with throwing as few pitches as he could, no matter how you look at it, the 21 year old Porcello has a bring future ahead of him.

Worst Pick- Matt Antonelli- Eamer looked at Antonelli as a future Chase Utley while most others looked at him as a future decent second baseman at best. Picking up a decent middle infielder isn't the best way to spend a first round prospect pick. Antonelli got a cup of coffee in the bigs in 2008 and hit a putrid .193, he followed it up with a strong minor league season last year putting up a .195 clip in 189 abs. At 25 years of age the ship has yet to completely sail on Antonelli, but I sure wouldn't buy stock in him.

Still Could Maket it- David Price- Seeing that this draft was only a year ago every player in it could still make it but I picked price because he’s someone who has gotten a shot and has disappointed. He looked like the pitching version of Roy Hobbs when he shut down the Red Sox World Series hopes in game 7 of the 2008 ALCS but he took a step back last season in which looked to be a breakout year for the former #1 overall pick. He posted an ERA of 4.43 with a whip of 1.35 and although he had a few bright spots he just never put it together. I’d look for Price to rebound big in his 2nd full pro season.

% in MLB- 7 out of 12 and the others look like a sure bet to make it in the not to distant future.

  1. After Porcello went against Strasburg a couple of days ago in Spring Training, according to Jason Stark, one scout said..

"he makes Porcello look like he's playing catch with his sister out there"

Not an awesome pick at the time over Weiters and I doubt he's the best pick in the round if (when?) you do this feature again like you stated.
